Paresh Patel is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of HCI Group, Inc. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for HCI Group and TypTap Insurance Company.
Paresh leveraged his extensive software development experience to design HCI’s policy administration systems, which he continues to oversee. Previously, Paresh founded NorthStar Bank in Tampa, Florida and from 2006 to 2011 served on the Board of Directors of its parent company, NorthStar Banking Corporation.
Paresh earned a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
Mark Harmsworth
Chief Financial Officer
Mark Harmsworth is the chief financial officer for HCI Group, Inc. He joined the Company in 2016 as senior vice president of Finance.
Throughout his career, Mark has served in a range of executive leadership positions. Prior to joining HCI Group, he was a consultant to the CEO and Board of Directors for Stewart Information Services (NYSE: STC). As a certified public accountant, Mark has practiced his knowledge of corporate finance in the insurance industry as the chief financial officer of First American Title Insurance Company, a global specialty insurance company and senior executive vice president of First Canadian Title Insurance Company.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto.
Karin Coleman
COO, President of Homeowners Choice and Director
Karin Coleman is the chief operating officer and director for HCI Group, Inc. She also currently serves on the board as a Member of the Sustainability Committee. as the president of Homeowner’s Choice Property and Casualty Insurance Company, an insurance subsidiary of HCI Group.
Her extensive experience in corporate and strategic initiatives guides her executive management of the company Prior to joining HCI in 2009, Karin served nine years as vice president of Strategic Alliances at Take Stock in Children, Florida’s largest public-private partnership providing college access and assistance to at-risk children. Earlier in her career, she spent thirteen years in various corporate roles at Florida Progress Corporation (NYSE: FPC) now part of Duke Energy.
Karin earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of South Florida and is a certified senior professional in Human Resources.
Andrew L. Graham
General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Andrew L. Graham is the general counsel and corporate secretary for HCI Group, Inc.
Prior to joining HCI Group in 2008, he served in various capacities, including general counsel, for Trinsic, Inc., which was a Nasdaq listed provider of telephone services. He currently serves as a director for LM Funding America, Inc., a Nasdaq listed specialty finance company headquartered in Tampa, Florida.
Andrew earned his Juris Doctor and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida College of Law. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florida State University.
Anthony Saravanos
President of Greenleaf Capital, LLC and Director
Anthony Saravanos is a director for HCI Group, Inc. and the president of Greenleaf Capital, LLC, HCI’s real estate division. He also currently serves on the board as a Member of the Sustainability Committee
Anthony is a director of First Home Bank in St. Petersburg, Florida, and serves as Chairman of the Board of Home Bank’s holding company, First Home Bancorp, Inc. Previously, he was vice president of The Boardwalk Company, a full-service commercial real estate company in Palm Harbor, Florida. Anthony is a certified commercial investment member (CCIM) and a certified development design and construction professional (CDP). He leverages his experience as a licensed real estate broker as the managing partner of thirteen personal commercial properties in Florida and New York.
Anthony earned a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing from Villanova University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Spanish from Ursinus College.
Wayne Burks
Director
Wayne Burks joined HCI Group, Inc. in 2013 as a director. He also serves as the Chair of the Audit Committee.
Previously, he served as chief financial officer and director for Romark LC, an international vertically integrated bio-pharmaceutical company and for WRB Enterprises, Inc., Florida-based holding company. Wayne has extended his financial and operational consulting expertise in various senior-level positions as a former principal of Sterling Financial Consulting, the chief financial officer of Prepared Holdings, LLC, and audit partner of Coopers & Lybrand.
Wayne earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration at Troy University.
Eric Hoffman
Director
Eric Hoffman serves as a Managing Director at Centerbridge Partners, a private investment firm, primarily focused on the financial services sector. He also serves on the board as a member of the Compensation Committee as well as the Governance & Nominating Committee.
His investment experience encompasses financial institutions, insurance and specialty finance companies including automotive, aviation and renewable energy. Eric serves on various Boards of Directors including Amedeo Capital Limited, Congressional Bancshares, Inc., TypTap Insurance Group, and formerly Root Insurance Company and Pocahontas Parkway. Eric also serves on the Board of Directors of Beginning with Children Foundation, an education-focused non-profit organization.
Eric graduated summa cum laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a concentration in finance and insurance.
Jay Madhu
Director
Jay Madhu is a director of HCI Group, Inc. He joined the Company in 2007, formerly serving as president of the Real Estate division and vice president of Investor Relations and Marketing.
Currently, Jay is president, Chief Executive Officer, and chairman of the Board of Directors for Oxbridge Re Holdings Ltd., a NASDAQ-listed reinsurance holding company. As an owner and manager of commercial properties, Jay utilized his financial and real estate expertise in senior level positions at mortgage and lending companies, including the Mortgage Corporation Network, First Trust Mortgage & Finance, Continental Management Associates Limited, Inc., and S&S Development, Inc. He has served on various Boards of Directors, including Moksha Re SPC Ltd., Wheeler Real Estate Investment Trust, Inc., and First Home Bank.
Jay attended Northwest Missouri State University where he studied marketing and management.
Gregory Politis
Director
Gregory Politis is the founder and director of HCI Group, Inc. He currently serves as the Board’s lead independent director as well as the Chair of the Compensation Committee.
His career spans more than 45 years in the real estate industry, where he has developed and retained ownership of retail, office, and industrial spaces, primarily focusing on buildings which house federal and state government agencies. He serves as president of Xenia Management Corporation, a real estate portfolio management company. Greg was a founder and director of NorthStar Bank.
He is a founding member of the Hellenic American Board of Entrepreneurs and a recipient of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Building of the Year Award.
Peter Politis
Director
Peter Politis joined the HCI Group, Inc. Board of Directors in 2021, following his participation in the Company’s Board Observer Program. He currently serves as a Member of the Audit Committee as well as the Chair of the Governance & Nominating Committee. He is the founder of Politis P.A., as well as a principal of real estate and development company, Xenia Management Corporation.
Peter’s extensive background in real estate lends a logical and systematic approach to the industry. His ability to adapt allows for new development, re-capitalization of existing assets, streamlining internal processes, or vertical integration within an industry’s evolution.
Peter earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. He holds a Master of Arts in International Business and a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a minor in Finance from the University of Florida.
Lauren Valiente
Director
Lauren joined the HCI Group, Inc. Board of Directors in 2021, following her participation in the Company’s Board Observer Program. She currently serves as a Member of the Compensation Committee as well as the Chair of the Sustainability Committee. She is Of Counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP.
Lauren’s legal practice focuses on representing public companies and their officers and directors, audit firms and their partners, and other entities and individuals in investigations and proceedings involving the SEC, DOJ, PCAOB, FINRA, and other government and non-government agencies in private litigation. She is experienced in defending public companies and their officers and directors in securities class actions and shareholder derivative litigation and in advising and conducting internal investigations for companies and their committees and directors.
Lauren earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Science from Harvard University.
Sue Watts
Director
Sue joined the HCI Group, Inc. Board of Directors in 2019, following her participation in the Company’s Board Observer Program. She currently serves as a Member of the Audit Committee as well as a Member of the Governance & Nominating Committee. She is executive vice president at Capgemini SE (EPA: CAP), a global leader in consulting, digital transformation, technology and engineering services.
Previously, she was a chief operating officer and corporate officer at Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) for Business Process Outsourcing Services. Earlier in her career, Sue served as Chief Executive Officer of America’s Outsourcing and corporate vice president of Application Services at Capgemini.
Sue earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Notre Dame University and a Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University.
